Martec, orignated from Costa Rica which is maritime and mariculture Company, Dan Benetti who is professor, researcher and director  at University of Miami, and an organization – Parque Marino del Pasifico- concern with the product.      

Pacific Spapper is a Perciformes species which can reach max 80 cm. Appropriate to aquaculture, it is a marine species and been offered for sale as fresh and frozen.      

“Snapper has already huge following, there marketing the fish is not huge task. There is no need to develop market.” said Benetti. Martec is focusing on the United States where the red snapper is farmed and cosuming at restaurants, grocery markets and supermarkets.

Researches on the red snapper began at the mid 1990s in Costa Rica and government laboratories in Panama. Not only in Martec, but also in Central America the fish is not remained only a research issue, it is also commercial product. Therefore it is marketable item.

This is only a beginning, as spoke it is expanding day by day.
