Florida Pompano (Trachinotuscarolinus)

It was produced by an American company, Aqua Green. It is not produced in high amounts but it is known by many states of America. It has a commercial importance. It is proper for fish farming with tolerance to low salt rate and capability to grow fast.

They may reach to 60 cm in length. They are known with their gray body and green-blue line on their back. They come to the bay during spawning period and stay offshore in winter. They are farmed and catched with fishhook; hooks should be small because of their mouth type. Pompano is an aggressive fish and it is affected from light. They like fast circulating waters.

The aim of the company is that the fish can complete its life circle in closed systems. The company has stated that high feed conversion rate constitutes an obstacle until they reach 400 g and at the same time there is an intense stock amount. But they believe in their solutions to eliminate this problem. They continue their studies to increase the survival rate of larva during metamorphosis period from 5% to 30%. Survival rate after growing stage is 95%.
