Atlantic Seabon Shrimp (Xiphopenaeus Kroyeri)

This shrimp is originated from Northern Atlantic and live in marine, brackish, exceptionally fresh waters, 1-70 m depth. It is popular in USA. In natural habitat, it is caught by local fishermen and sold as fresh, dried and frozen.   

The Heiplloeg Group, including Heiploeg in Zoutkamp, The Netherlands, Morubel in Belgium, and BFG in Germany and Namoona/SAIL companies are related with this product.      

Surinam seabob shrimp is mainly sold to European ans North America markets as peeled and breaded for salads. Small sized and short lived shrimps are growing at coast of Surinam and Guyana. Shrimp fishing is the fourth biggest item for export in both Surinam and Guyana.

The fishery was awarded the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) eco-label in 2011.

Catching is carried out by twin rigged otter trawl 20 licence companies Heiploeg Surinam ve Namoone/SAIL.

The annual landing is 10.000 metric/tons , which is %90 percent of the Suriname seabob landings.

Seabob is a small white shrimp and also delicious and easy to prepare.
